Computer and Browser Requirements

PA Foundations Online has been designed to work best with computer systems with the following specifications.

Internet Browser

To access PAFO, we strongly recommend Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE) version 7 or newer, FireFox 3+, or Google Chrome. Other browsers like Netscape may work but frequently will not display the PAFO data as intended. Also, if you access PAFO with an outdated browser, functions such as subscribing online may not work properly or may lack proper security. The latest versions of our recommended web browser may be downloaded for free from the publisher's websites.

Browser Cookies

Cookies are tiny text files saved to your hard drive and must be enabled for PAFO to work correctly. These files do not harm your computer and do not contain personal or private information.

Monitor Resolution

Because PAFO is a text-intensive website we strongly recommend — for optimum display — a color monitor set at a resolution of 1024 x 768 (16-bit and above color depth).

Internet Connection

Because PAFO's Funding Database is quite large it is highly desirable to be connected to the internet with a fast broadband connection—cable modem, DSL, Fios, or T1 line. Yes, PFO will work satisfactorily with a dial-up connection but search results and screens can take much longer to display.

Javascript

Javascript must be enabled in your browser for certain PAFO Search Module functions to work properly. By default, Javascript is enabled in most browsers.

Credit Card Security

If you subscribe online using a credit card, your browser must be SSL-compliant for security purposes. To check that your browser is SSL-compliant, when you are on the screen at which credit card information is entered, look for a small lock icon in your bottom-right corner. If the icon is displayed then your personal and credit card data are secure!
